Austrian first climbs Cho Oyu in 1954. The Indian and German team also climbed this peak 1964 & 1965 respectively. Till today many expedition teams have successfully reached on its 2004 was regarded as the Golden jubilee of this Mountain in the field of expedition jubilee ceremony which was organized by Nepal Mountaineering Association. There were about 400 climbers from all over the world during this golden jubilee ceremony the most of them made who made this summit.

Cho Oyu stands high above the Tibetan plains on the Nepal & Tibet border and is ideal choice for mountaineers ready to test themselves on the eight thousand peaks. The world's sixth highest mountain is to the locals a holy mountain. It was first climbed by S. Moechler, H. Tichy & P. Dawa Lama in 1954. On a good day the view from the summit plateau is breathtaking, in a sweep you take in the entire panorama of Everest, Lhoste, Ama Dablam Nuptse, Chamlang, and other peaks of the Khumbu as well in Tibet.

We enter Tibet via Zhangmu and then drive to Nyalam and Old Tingri, from where the trekking begins. Base Camp, Chinese basecamp is situated at an altitude of 5,000m, with the Advanced base camp at 5,700m.

Itinerary

Day 01 Arrival in Kathmandu transfer to hotel.
Day 02 Rest day at Kathmandu preparing for Expedition.
Day 03 Preparing expedition (Kathmandu).
Day 04 Drive to Kodari Border & Zhangmu.
Day 05 Drive Nylam 3,750m. Over night at hotel.
Day 06 Nylam rest for acclimatization.
Day 07 Drive to Tingri 4,340m.
Day 08 Drive to Chinese Basecamp 5,000m.
Day 09 Prepare load for Advance Base Camp.
Day 10 Trek to Middle Camp.
Day 11 Trek to Advance Base Camp 5,700m.
Day 12-38 Climbing Period Cho Oyu 8,201m.
Day 39 Trek to Base Camp.
Day 40 Drive Nyalam.
Day 41 Drive to Zhangmu & Kathmandu.
Day 42 Kathmandu.
Day 43 Final Departure.

Cost includes:

  • 5 night's hotel in Kathmandu with bed & breakfast, 3 star category.
  • Expedition Nepalese crews: Professional Cook, Kitchen boy, at Base Camp (Camp Equipments) allowance, daily wages, lodging & food expedition en-route.
  • Tibet visa & Travel Permit for expedition crew.
  • Full board hotel in route Tibet side (Bed & Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
  • Chinese Base Camp – Advance Base camp 1 tent for 1 Person.
  • Dining tent, Table & chairs, toilet tent, mess tent, Kitchen tent & expedition crew

Tipping: It's appreciated and well practiced to tip the trekking and expedition's crew which includes guide, cook, kitchen staffs and porters as they also expect a generous tip though tipping is not compulsory.
